Packing

I'm leaving on a jet plane, don't know when I'll be back again...

It is now only two days until we leave for Colorado. I am so excited I can hardly stand it! The next two days will be spent cleaning the house(nothing says the good times are over like coming home to a pig-sty) and packing our bags. This may not sound like something that should take two entire days but have you met my boys? It's a guarantee that for every one thing I clean they make a mess of at least three more. Plus the packing thing is quite the task when you want to bring about three suitcases apiece just full of things for them to do so they don't get bored(a.k.a. cranky) but you're flying so you have to consolidate everything for a week into one bag. This takes some time and very smart planning. Well, those are the reasons that I am dedicating two entire days to those particular tasks. Plus there are lawns to be mowed and weeds to be whacked and sheds to start building and fruit to pick and jelly to make and on and on it goes. Of course the fruit and jelly will have to wait until we get back because I am just not that efficient. I may be picking and freezing before I go though. The prunes are lookin' pretty ripe.

Anyhow, our vacation starts at about 3:00 in the morning on Saturday as our plane flies out at around 6 am and it takes over an hour to get there and all the fun of parking the car and checking the luggage and handing over our mass-destructive weapons and so on and so forth. You know, I may not sleep at all tomorrow night. There's going to be a lot to get done before 6 am on Saturday. Oh well, as an old friend once told me, "Sleep is for people with nuthin' to do."

I will probably not be bloggin' for the next two weeks or so but I plan on having much to post upon our return. We will miss you all and I look forward to telling you about our trip.

By the way, have I ever mentioned by mind-numbing, head-spinning, body shaking fear of heights? Please pray for me during our flight. It is not something that I'm fond of.

Bye Bye!

Getting Up There

Well, yesterday was my birthday. It was a good day all and all but I can't help the niggling feeling in the back of my mind that says, or actually screams, "You're getting old!" Now, I know that 26 is not old really, but I kept telling Jay that it's bothersome because I am now closer to 30 than I am to 20. He finally looked pointedly at me and said, "You've actually been closer to 30 since the day after you turned 25 so...get over it! Who cares?" Now, I know he's right but I couldn't help thinking, Me, I care! I will have to get over it though, as my hubby so sweetly ordered me to do (thanks honey) and let me tell you, getting gifts definitely helps the whole getting older process.

Jay surprised me with this yesterday morning. I was ecstatic. I have been wanting these(or any set) for a very long time. I had some nice pans but they were kind of small and there weren't very many of them. Now I have more than I had hoped for and I'm sure that they will make the big family dinners much easier. Thank you Baby for such a generous gift! I love them and will love them more once I actually use them!

PLus I'm getting a treadmill!

Riding the Fence

These are just a few of the boys on the new fence between our house and the church. I was having a hard time because my camera takes blurry pics without the flash. Also, I just used someone else's actions to edit. They look pretty cute on my screen but my moniter isn't very good so you'll have to let me know what you think. And don't hold back on the tips, I want tips!

I will post more tomorrow. I also plan on doing this again only with their cowboy clothes on.

Things that make you go...Hmmmm.

Yesterday, while the Taiter was napping, I was folding laundry and Rowster was playing quietly in the living room.(He already woke up from his nap.) When I finished I turned around to see that Ro was no longer playing with trucks but he was doing what he sees his mommy do every day.

Now, there are a few things I would like you to observe about these pictures.

A) He has his cup on the desk. I always have my drink at the desk with me.
B) Yes, he is on the cell phone.
C) If you notice in the first couple Solitare is on the computer screen. I am horrible at multi-tasking so I always switch to Solitare while I'm on the phone.

When I saw this my first reaction was to grab the camera. My second reaction was to think, "Hmmmm. Maybe I need more active hobbies!"

Who are they?

Well, I have been visiting the past on my computer lately and I keep coming across pictures that I hardly even remember taking. A few are best left forgotten but then there are quite a lot of the kiddos that I just never did anything with. I do still have hopes of one day putting together baby albums for my boys but it may very well have to be when they are less apt to "help" me. Or whenever we can get a room set up as an office where I can leave my stuff scattered all around.
Here's another "oldie" for your viewing pleasure. Do any of you remember these little guys?

By the way, I just caught my eldest teaching my youngest how to climb out of his crib. He kept telling him, "No Ro, put your leg up over this..." Ugh! You all know it will only take Ro about 2.7 seconds to master this new trick, right?

I think I might start a blog series called "The Hourly Adventures of the P. Family".
I know that it's not completely honest as it's more like the every 5 min. adventures but the P. part is very acurate. It stands for our last name, and all of the bodily waste that I get to see up close and personal.
Anyway, it was just a thought.

Taiter just asked me, "Why are doin that to your face, Mommy?" I now realize I had my "butt"-face going on because I was trying to concentrate. You know, the up and down crease between my eyes that happens when I scowl, my butt-face as my cousin D. so lovingly called it many years ago. I cannot wait until his baby is born.

See ya all later!

P.S. I think we all should make Lance take our quizes! Once again, just a thought.

Exhibit B

You may be wondering about this title but if you've been keeping up you'll see that I mentioned Exhibit A(which is the chalk incident) in my last post. Exhibits of what? Well, exhibits of why moms all over the world want to throw in the towel of course.

Okay, down to the nitty-gritty.

*Note: Those who are squeemish, especially you of the male type, may not wish to continue further due to the graphic nature of this post.

This(cue Jaws or shrill psycho music):

...is what was awaiting me this afternoon. What? Let me explain. You see, my boy swallowed a penny yesterday and now we have to find it. You may have guessed by now just what the bucket is for.
We called the nurse line and they said that if it has not passed in 3 days time that we should take him in. I get to be the lucky individual who "searches" his, um, "leftovers" until it either appears or three days are up.
The above pictures are the tools I am using to complete my task. This of course includes rubber gloves(not pictured). I must admit that I am not exactly pleased with this new endeavor which as been thrust upon me. Might I add that I am slightly miffed at Solomon for not mentioning that in "A Time For Everything" in Ecclesiastes there is also a time for rooting around in human feces. Excuse my French. Oh and let's not forget my darling husband who gave him the penny in the first place.

So anyway, I have examined one batch today and much to my dismay, the search continues.
By the way, this is the look a kid gets when his mom humilates him by taking a picture of him while gathering evidence.

For those of you who believe this post to be inappropriate, I will defend myself by saying that after digging through a load of "leftovers" to no avail, I had to allow myself some enjoyment in my current circumstance!

A Moment To Remember

I have to say that although motherhood has it's ups and downs, for the most part it is the most rewarding thing in my life. There are moments(such as exhibit A in my last post) when I could just throw my hands in the air and give up. Then there are moments when I am overwhelmed with the amazing gift that God has given me in those two precious boys. Moments like when they laugh and giggle while playing together, or come and squeeze my leg with an accompanyment of the word "hi", or say things like "Mamma you my best friend", or when they run to greet you with a big smile and their arms thrown in the air after you have been gone for a time. All of these things make you feel as though you are the world to them. Sometimes it is sad knowing that they will never love you as you love them but it's still worth it. But out of all of these things I must say that there is one that surpasses them all. I would say that the moment most worthy of remembering is the moment that I sat out in the living room folding laundry and could hear my husband teaching my son Scripture. To hear my little boy repeat back a verse to his daddy and sound so excited about it, was indescribable. I know that there may come a time in his life when he questions all he has ever been taught but it is my prayer that the verses and the moments that he spent with his daddy learning them will prey upon his heart and bring him to a place of peace and understanding. I pray that God will root His Word so deeply in his heart at this tender age, that he will be strong in faith as a man. What more could a mommy want than "to know that my children walk in truth."
