I need Help!

AS you can see in my last post a few minutes ago, my pictures are extremely grainy. Now, when I change settings they get really dark or blurry or blah blah blah. So, What causes them to be grainy and how can I adjust it so that they aren't grainy, but they aren't blurry or dark either? What's the secret?

Not-the-pro here: I don't know if there is an always answer and I know that certain others will be able to add more than I could; BUT, My "Grainy" photos are usually from higher film speeds (ISO settings above 400+/- depending on the camera...); low light conditions, extreme highlights (causing a bad meter-reading) or a combination of the above.

I know that Crystal and Terah shoot a lot higher ISO's than I do, but I like to start at 100 and work up to whatever it needs from there.

In extreme shots, I have to meter for the subject, instead of for the entire composition.

In most cases, lighting is the fix for that though.

The rest depends on your camera and equipment - some can handle lower light better than others.
