Baby:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")
Yay! Been into the second trimester for over a week now and I feel great! Also had another ultrasound yesterday and most of the blood/bleeding I had in the womb has gone now. Got to see "peanut" in there and as always, it was pretty awesome. It had it's little hand up by it's face and we got a cute picture of it's fingers. I get the strong feeling that baby is a boy every time I see it on the ultrasound but when I asked if the tech could tell she said no. Bummer. We do, however, get to find out what gender baby be on the 22nd of December. I was stoked, to say the least, that it would be before Christmas. So you guys gotta put in your guesses soon. And although I will be equally excited over either, I really think my girl would benefit from not being the only one. So if you want to send a little prayer out for another girl, that would be appreciated. I'm just sayin...
Jay and Adam left to the east for 5 days and returned again on Wednesday night. To say that I am happy to have them home would be a gross understatement. For the first three days they were gone I would get the uncontrollable urge to weep every afternoon. The house was just so quiet.
For the next week I will be scrubbing and baking in preparation to host Thanksgiving. Jay's two sisters and one brother are coming. Sadly his parents and other brother and sister won't be able to make it. I am excited and overwhelmed all at once. I am sure whatever doesn't get done will only be noticed by me. Or I am the only one who would say anything about it anyway.
On that note, I'd better get going.
