Adam came to tell me goodnight the other day as I was washing up the dinner dishes. He gave me a love and a smooch and I told him God loves him.
"Yep, He loves you too." Starts out of the kitchen.
"Adam. I mean it, God really does love you. I'm not just saying that."
Turns to look around the corner at me.
"Okay."
"Okay. Good night buddy. Love you."
"Love you too."
I go back to washing dishes.
"Mommy."
"What buddy?"
"Even though you're a grownup, you're still God's kid." And down the hall he goes.
I don't know why it hit me the way it did. Maybe it had something to do with how he said it with such conviction. Or maybe it was because I was tired or because it took me by surprise. I don't really know why, but as my oldest son went to his room to say his prayers, all I could think was, I'm God's kid. The overwhelming thought that I love my own children only a fraction of how God loves his, hit me like a brick. That God would consider me his child, well, it doesn't get much better than that.

Tuesday
1) I'm really missing my camera.
This payday I get a new one. Or so I'm told. But....
I think I've been told this for three paydays now.
2) We are starting a new (virtually) sugar-free lifestyle. At least the kids and I are. Jay makes his own decisions. I think that I will bake once a week. That was the rule when I was a kid. We had one treat day a week. Usually Sunday. I can still taste the caffiene-free, diet pepsi. And the powder-coated donuts. And crunchy Chips-Ahoy! Mmmmm.
We will not be partaking in artificial sweeteners though. Unless I'm really, really desparate and then I'll stick to Stevia.
3) Adam is now officially a kid. There is no trace of the baby or the toddler that I once knew so well. We are embarking on an adventure in unknown territory. And I'm...terrified!
He rides a two-wheel bike. Without training wheels. He wasn't taught really. He just decided at his cousins' house on Sunday that he could do it. And do it he did. And I can hardly get him to stop. He just wants to go everywhere. (*he did not get this skill from me.)
He also has picked right up on sounding out two & three-letter words. Yep. He's a genius. An athletic one.
4) VBS meeting in the morning. I get to help this year. Yay! Last year Avril was two weeks old and I did not feel up to it. This year I'm excited. I just have to figure out what to do with Rowster.
5) Erin Cobb does a Mama (with a camera) Mondays series on her business blog. So far stuff I already knew but don't make the effort to apply. She promises to get more technical pretty soon. Can't wait! Check her out: http://erincobb.com/Blog/?cat=14
6) Planning Avril's 1st birthday party. I am having so much fun! There will be cupcakes. And cupcake "things". And a few other surprises(if I can get them to work). If the weather is nice we will be partying out doors. Silly, since she won't remember it. But we'll take pictures.(hopefully)
And the 1st birthday is always the hardest for me so the party helps to stifle my sadness.
7) Adam & Avril still need summer clothes but I'm having a difficult time spending the money on it. I keep thinking: Well, they don't need them yet. But...but...but it is almost June! I guess I should get on the ball. Especially for poor Adam.
8) I made homemade ice cream for the first time today. It is blackberry. And it is goooood. (Hey! I only had a little taste!) The boys were very excited to get some for dessert.
9) God is so good. I think He may be trying to prune me lately. I keep seeing things regarding obedience. I guess I should do some searching and figure out what area I am not being obedient in. There are probably several.
10) I love my family. All of them. Especially Jay and the kids though.
